Liverpool vs Swansea Team News – Yesil in for Reds

Samed Yesil could make his second appearance for Liverpool tonight as they take on Swansea in the League Cup at Anfield.

The young German striker may even start up front for the Reds, but Jerome Sinclair is unlikely to feature, according to first-team coach Mike Marsh.

“I don’t think we’ll be as young this time around as we were against West Brom,” Marsh told the club’s official website. “We will change personnel, but I don’t think we’ll be as young as we were in that game.

“Jerome has been away with England and had a busy programme, so I think it’ll be a chance for one or two others to play – possibly Samed.

“He’s doing really well in training and there’s a chance he’ll be given a shirt.”

As we reported yesterday, Glen Johnson and Pepe Reina are ruled out for Liverpool, continuing to sit out injured after recent knocks.

Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson are expected to start with Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard likely to drop to the bench with Sunday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle on Brendan Rodgers’ mind.

Joe Cole could also make his first Reds start in three months after shaking off some injury problems.

As for Swansea, they’re without goalkeeper Michael Vorm (groin) and Ashley Williams and Wayne Routledge are rated as doubtful.

Liverpool vs Swansea in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup gets underway at 8pm tonight (Wednesday).
