Thursday’s LFC Transfer Rumours: Goal machine “set to sign”, Sturridge latest

Liverpool are on the verge of signing 18-year-old Finland striker Joel Pohjanpalo, according to today’s Metro.

The highly rated forward turned down a move to Anfield earlier in the year after a successful trial at Melwood. The Reds are reportedly now hopeful to convince Pohjanpalo to sign a deal and scupper the interest of the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.

Pohjanpalo scored 33 goals in 23 Reserve games for his club Helsinki last season and could be available for around £1million.

Meanwhile reported Liverpool target Daniel Sturridge is not on the market, according to Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo.

Di Matteo says the England international striker is firmly part of his plans at Stamford Bridge, with the future now looking uncertain for former Red Fernando Torres.

The Italian manager is hoping to put and end to speculation linking the Reds and several other clubs with Sturridge’s signature. He says in the Daily Mail, “I get asked about speculation but I am very happy with him. He scored a goal and had a number of good chances.

“He’s our striker and as far as I’m concerned he’s part of this team.”

ClubCall report today some Liverpool interest in Genoa left-back Mario Sampirisi.

The Italian left-back is having an impressive season in Serie A, and has also caught the eye of Manchester Utd and Chelsea, according to reports.
