January Transfer Window Day 8 – Strootman to replace Sahin?

January Transfer Window Day 8

Here’s today’s LFC transfer rumours and reports.

Samuel Inkoom – From Dnipro

According to Ghana Sports Online, Liverpool and Chelsea are two of the clubs interested in the 23 year old right back, who can also play as a winger. The promising Ghanaian has fallen out of favour with manager Juande Ramos, and seems likely to leave. This is what his agent, Christian Emile, said about the situation a few days ago:

“Samuel is not happy with his situation at Dnipro, because it’s not acceptable for a player of his calibre. We are talking about a very talented young player who has represented Ghana more than 30 times. Clearly, the only solution for him now is to move to a European club where he can play an important role and succeed.”

Inkoom looks like a player who could suit the type of football Brendan Rodgers wants to play. With Liverpool currently lacking options at full back this one may have wings, although a left back would make more sense.

Kevin Strootman – From PSV Eindhoven

As reported yesterday, Liverpool are believed to be one of several clubs interested in the Dutch midfielder. Since then, rumours have emerged about an English club making a €22m bid.

Strootman’s agent has previously indicated the possibility of a January move, and although the club’s sporting director has been clear about PSV holding on to him, these things can easily materialise if player and agent have made their minds up.

With Nuri Sahin reportedly on his way out, one cannot dismiss the idea of Liverpool making a move. But judging by what Brendan Rodgers has said about transfer activity it seems unlikely he will have that kind of money to spend this window.

Thomas Ince – From Blackpool

Liverpool will wait until the summer to sign Ince, according to The Telegraph. Blackpool have insisted Liverpool pay more than £6m for the English winger.

And the rest:

The Metro report Liverpool’s interest in Lazio centre back Modibo Diakite ahead of a Bosman free-signing in the summer.

Liverpool face competition for the signature of Nicolas Isimat-Mirin. According to the Daily Star Newcastle have placed a £5m bid, and sent a delegation to France this weekend to clinch a deal for the defender.

According to calciomercato.com, Wesley Sneijder has rejected offers from both Liverpool and Spurs.

The Mirror claim Manchester United’s manager Alex Ferguson is considering getting rid of David de Gea. Both Stoke’s Asmir Begovic and Liverpool’s Pepe Reina have been mentioned as potential replacements.

Reported Liverpool target Theo Walcott is to sign a new contract at Arsenal.
