A superb performance saw Liverpool comfortably beat Norwich City 5-0 at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as new signing Daniel Sturridge scored on his home debut to make it three goals in his first three appearances for the club.

Brad Jones deputised for the injured Pepe Reina, who faces a month out with a thigh injury, while Jamie Carragher made his League first start at home this season replacing Skrtel alongside Agger.

Jordan Henderson came in to midfield to replace Joe Allen and it was Henderson who opened the scoring with a stunning volley on the turn from the edge of the box.

The second goal arrived from Suarez after a lovely dummy by Sturridge, the Uruguayan scoring his 20th goal of the season with a good finish across the keeper with his left foot.

Sturridge got his third for the club in three appearances, finishing from close range after good work by Henderson and Downing’s cross.

It was 4-0 shortly after, with Steven Gerrard rolling back the years with a strike from 25 yards into the bottom corner. The skipper maintained his record of having played every minute of every Premier League game this season.

And the fifth arrived after sub Raheem Sterling’s shot was forced into his own net by Norwich defender Ryan Bennett.
