Liverpool’s Jose Enrique out for six weeks

Liverpool wing-back Jose Enrique has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed to the media at his press conference ahead of this Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Mansfield that the Spanish left sided player has sustained a bad injury to his hamstring.

Enrique was pulled off for the last twenty minutes of Liverpool’s 3-0 win over QPR at Loftus Road last month, when he sustained the injury.

After that game, assistant manager Colin Pascoe told reporters, “Unfortunately it looks like he’s got a tear in his hamstring.

“It’s a shame, and hopefully he’s not out for too long.”

Enrique has made some impressive performances for Liverpool this season, forming a good understanding with forward Luis Suarez, so his absence will come as a blow to the Reds.

However, Glen Johnson filled in well for him on the left side of defence, with Andre Wisdom at right-back during Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Sunderland at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Left-back Jack Robinson was also amongst the substitutes in the opening Premier League clash of 2013, and could be an option for Rodgers during Enrique’s time on the sidelines.
