Sturridge coming in is the only change to the team that drew 0-0 with West Ham at Anfield last Sunday. Stewart Downing drops to the bench, but is struggling with a knock.
Steven Gerrard, Lucas and Jordan Henderson are the midfield three with Philippe Coutinho supporting Sturridge and Luis Suarez up front.
Jamie Carragher once again starts with Daniel Agger in central defence, with Martin Skrtel on the bench.
