Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that they will play a pre-season friendly in Thailand this summer.
The Reds will play a game, likely to be against the Thailand national team, at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok on Sunday, 28th July 2013.
The match will no doubt be accompanied by open training sessions and promotional events in association with the club’s sponsor, Standard Chartered.
The club hope the appearance there, the first since 2009, will continue to build and develop the club’s brand and support in the country, where over 10 million fans are thought to be Reds.
Brendan Rodgers says the club are looking forward to making the trip East.
“The players who went on the last tour to Thailand are really excited about going back. I’ve heard a lot about the passion and dedication of the fans in Thailand and we plan to bring them some great football.”
As reported in February, Liverpool are also expected to play a game in Australia, looking to build on their fanbase down under.
A friendly in Melbourne is on the cards, and The Reds will also visit Indonesia as part of their deal with with the nation’s biggest airline Garuda International.
