Liverpool Ladies strengthened their lead at the top of the F.A. Women’s Super League with a convincing 4-1 victory over local rivals Everton on Tuesday evening.

On a balmy night in Crosby, 1,124 people came to see the Ladies’ Merseyside Derby.

Better still, the game was won without Liverpool’s first two goalkeepers, meaning emergency signing Rachel Lewis made her debut between the Reds’ posts.

Nicole Rosler took advantage of sloppy Everton defending to give Liverpool a 1-0 lead just after the half hour mark.

The Blues hit back when Jill Scott put them back on level terms shortly after half term.

But goals from Louise Fors and Corina Schroder gave Liverpool a two goal lead over their rivals at 3-1, before a late fourth form striker Natasha Dowie – a former Everton Ladies player herself.

It means after five games played, Matt Beard’s Ladies are three points clear of Bristol Academy Women at the top of the WSL, having played a game more.

The Reds next play Birmingham City in the league at home – the Halton Stadium, Wigan – at 7.15pm this Saturday, 8th June 2013.

Tickets and more information are available on the LFC Ladies website.
