The two sides meet in Dublin at 5pm (UK), a week before the new Premier League season gets underway.

Sturridge is named in the matchday squad for the first time this summer after recovering from an ankle injury picked up whilst on international duty for England back in May.

Daniel Agger, named the new Liverpool vice-captain, is rested after picking up a knock earlier in the week. Andre Wisdom, instead, partners Kolo Toure in central defence.

There is also a start for Stewart Downing, supporting the attack of Iago Aspas and Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Enrique, Wisdom, Toure, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Downing, Aspas, Coutinho.

Substitutes: Jones, Alberto, Assaidi, Henderson, Sturridge, Coates, Borini, Sterling, Kelly, Flanagan, Ibe.

Liverpool vs Celtic gets underway at 5pm (UK) and is live on BT Sport.
