DEAL DONE: Mamadou Sakho to Liverpool

Liverpool have announced their second signing of Transfer Deadline Day with the completion of a deal for Mamadou Sakho from Paris-St-Germain.



The 23-year-old completed a medical at Melwood over the weekend and has signed a “long-term contract” with the Reds.

Sakho may well be seen as Daniel Agger’s new central defensive partner, whilst the Reds also confirmed the signing of Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon earlier this mornijng.

On his arrival on Merseyside, the French international told the club’s official website, “I’m delighted to be here. I’d like to thank everyone for the welcome.

“I came here because the project that is in place at Liverpool interests me. I’m really looking forward to playing my first game.”

Sakho’s arrival at Liverpool brings the Reds’ summer transfer flurry up to seven players, following the arrivals of Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet, Aly Cissokho and Ilori.

Sakho was at Anfield on Sunday to see his new teammates beat Manchester United 1-0 and go top of the Premier League.
