Liverpool fans send message to The FA on their 150th anniversary

As The Football Association celebrated their 150th anniversary yesterday, Liverpool fans sent a reminder of their role in the Hillsborough disaster.

A banner at Anfield read “FA Guilty As Charged”.

The FA’s role is currently being examined as part of the IPCC’s investigation into the disaster that killed 96 innocent supporters.

The FA Cup Semi Final in 1989 was hosted at Hillsborough despite the stadium not having a valid safety certificate, which is the prime responsibility of the event organiser under the Health and Safety Act.

Former FA chairman David Bernstein finally apologised on behalf of The FA following the Hillsborough Independent Panel’s report in September 2012.

The FA could face manslaughter charges for gross negligence, as reported by The Guardian recently.
