The young Italian is yet to sign a senior contract with Napoli, so could be available on a cut-price deal for Liverpool, with Queen’s Park Rangers also said to be interested in the defender.

Paul Gorst writes for the Mirror on Anastasio:

The versatile Anastasio can play in a number of positions down the right side, although he is unlikely to go straight into the first-team squad should he make the move from the Stadio San Paolo this month.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are still in negotiations with Basel to sign Egyptian attacker Mohamed Salah, but the Liverpool Echo report on Thursday that the Reds are still someway off completing the deal:

The Reds have held initial talks with the Swiss outfit but the ECHO understands that any potential deal for the Egypt international remains some way off.

Last month, a close friend and former teammate of Salah’s, Mohamed Zika said he was “99% certain” Salah would join Liverpool in the January transfer window.

The Echo also report that Liverpool have given up on trying to sign Barcelona Christian Tello, who is struggling to get first-team football at the Nou Camp under Gerardo Martino.

Liverpool did enquire about his availability but they are now looking at other options.
