The Daily Mail report how Ayre did not speak directly of Rodgers’ contract, which currently expires in 2015, but that “he indicated to the sponsors that long-term deals are in the pipeline for key members of the club’s staff at the end of this season, stressing that Liverpool are determined to commit to this new era under their Northern Irish manager.”

They also report how Ayre “revealed that the club are hopeful that their identified summer transfer targets will be signed as Brendan Rodgers’ side seek to impress in European competition next season.”

There was further positive news from Ayre regarding Luis Suarez – Ayre being confident that the star striker will remain at the club despite inevitable interest this summer, especially given Liverpool will be featuring among Europe’s elite in the Champions League next season.

And further good news is reported regarding the redevelopment of Anfield, with only one property remaining to be secured on Lothair Road in order to push ahead with plans to expand the Main Stand and Anfield Road End.

Further news on Liverpool’s stadium plans are expected to be announced within the next fortnight.
