Latest on Moreno move: Reina recommends Reds

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has advised Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno to move to Anfield, according to a report in Spain which suggests the player is just awaiting final agreement before flying in for his medical.

Moreno, 21, has been the subject of a bid in the region of £16 million according to numerous reports this week, with Spanish media saying earlier this week that a move had been agreed between the two clubs.

A report on Wednesday explains how Pepe Reina, still officially a Liverpool player after his season loan to Napoli, has urged Moreno to make the move to Merseyside, despite interest from Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Liverpool have apparently been tracking the player for months and made their move, with only the method of payment yet to be finalised.

There had been suggestions that Liverpool were hoping to include a player as part of the deal, with midfielders Suso and Luis Alberto – who was signed from Sevilla a year ago – linked.

The Sevilla president confirmed talks with Liverpool over Moreno yesterday.

The Liverpool Echo write on Wednesday that Liverpool are “determined they won’t be drawn into an auction.. despite being warned their £16million offer may not be enough to prise the in-demand defender from Sevilla.”
