The draw was made in Monaco on Thursday evening, with Liverpool drawn in Group B.

The Reds last faced Real in 2009, when they humbled the Spanish giants 4-0 at Anfield and won 1-0 in the Bernabeu.

The last, and only, meeting with FC Basel was in 2002 when the Swiss side drew 3-3 and 1-1 in the group stages.

Bulgarian side Ludogorets qualified for the Champions League for the first time via the play-off on Wednesday night, doing so in dramatic circumstances when their defender saved two penalties in the penalty shoot-out.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are back in the competition for the first time since 2009/10, having finished second in the Premier League last season.
