It was bound to happen – Liverpool have been linked with West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahinho, the 21-year-old who has seven Premier League goals this season, including a penalty at Anfield earlier this month.
The Burundi-born England under-21 international has impressed with his composure in front of goal and is linked in The Sunday Mail, who claim Liverpool are considering a January move for the front man.
The report claims that Tottenham are also interested in Berahino and that West Brom value the player at £25 million.
They also claim that Wilfried Bony, a player Liverpool considered in the summer and has scored four Premier League goals for Swansea this season, is also under consideration at Anfield again.
The report also adds that Liverpool acknowledge that Mario Balotelli, still without a league goal in seven appearances, is a gamble and could look to cut their losses in January.
While Balotelli again failed to net on Saturday against Hull at Anfield, Bony hit two for Swansea, Berahino scored for West Brom and Liverpool’s prime summer target Alexis Sanchez hit two for Arsenal at Sunderland.
Liverpool and Balotelli looked far better once Brendan Rodgers changed formation with half an hour remaining, bringing on Rickie Lambert and changing to an orthodox 4-4-2 formation.
