The race to sign Xherdan Shaqiri is hotting up, with some sources saying personal terms have been agreed with Liverpool, and others claiming he will join Inter Milan.
The 23-year-old has been the Reds’ most talked about potential signing of late, whether it be in the current transfer window or in the summer, and Blick, a Swiss publication, claim personal terms have been agreed between the player and Liverpool, but that he wouldn’t be able to join this month. That is likely because of FFP rulings.
Sky sources, admittedly not always the most reliable, believe the Reds will sign Switzerland’s talisman in the summer, and will allow him to join Inter on loan for the rest of this season.
The Daily Mail report that Shaqiri’s representatives will meet with those high up at Bayern on Wednesday, in order to work out the winger’s future. Inter only want him on loan, while Liverpool are eyeing up a permanent deal.
Finally, talkSPORT are claiming, via reports in Italy, that a loan deal has already been agreed between the Nerazzurri and Shaqiri, ending Brendan Rodgers’ hopes of signing him in the process.
The 23-year-old is a huge talent, and one who would be a wonderful signing by Liverpool. He is fast, strong, skilful, scores goal and can thrive on either flank.
It is only the world-class brilliance of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery that has seen his first-team chances at Allianz Arena limited over the last year or two.
