Liverpool have named transfer rebel Raheem Sterling in the squad for their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, while three big names miss out.
Despite his attempts to force away a move from Liverpool this summer, Raheem Sterling has been included in Brendan Rodgers’ squad for the club’s pre-season tour.
The 20-year-old is set to travel to Bangkok on Sunday, despite informing the club that he wished to stay behind.
First-team trio Mario Balotelli, Jose Enrique and Fabio Borini have all been left out, however, in a clear indication of their future.
All three will remain at Melwood, while the club look to offload them this summer.
High-potential centre-back Tiago Ilori also misses out, which may suggest he is set to leave the club on loan for another season, although he did spend the summer at the European Under-21 Championship which may explain his absence.
Meanwhile, academy forward Jerome Sinclair is also not included.
Whether Sinclair’s absence is due to an impending loan move or the expiry of his contract is yet to be confirmed.
Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can also miss out, following their participation in the Copa America and the Euro U-21s this summer respectively.
