Watch extended highlights of Liverpool’s superb 6-1 thrashing of Southampton in the League Cup quarter-final.

Liverpool came from behind to reach the semi-final courtesy of two goals from Daniel Sturridge, a hat-trick from Divock Origi and one from substitute Jordon Ibe.

It was a clinical finishing performance, with six goals scored from seven shots on target.

Despite making six changes to the side that beat Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday and changing shape to a 4-4-2 diamond, Jurgen Klopp‘s side showed superb understanding and teamwork, ruthlessly destroying their opponents.

Sturridge’s two goals, on his first start under Klopp, arrived midway into the first-half and cancelled out Southampton‘s first minute equaliser.

Origi then got the final touch on Alberto Moreno‘s powerful shot from the edge of the box shortly before half-time.

The second half saw Origi power a superb shot into the top corner, Ibe then controlled and volleyed one in from the edge of the box, before Origi headed home Brad Smith’s superb cross from the left.

What a performance!
