Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw away to West Brom on Sunday afternoon, with much of the focus on the Europa League final.
West Brom 1-1 Liverpool
Premier League – The Hawthorns – Sunday 15 May, 2016
Goals: Rondon 14′; Ibe 23′
Jordon Ibe’s excellent solo strike cancelled out Salomon Rondon’s opener, with a youthful Liverpool side held to a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns.
Jurgen Klopp made 11 changes to his side from Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, with one eye on next week’s Europa League final clash with Sevilla.
Unsurprisingly unsettling Liverpool early on, Klopp will have been encouraged as his young Reds produced a reasonable performance away from home.
Here’s how supporters saw Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at West Brom.
Youngsters like Cameron Brannagan, Sergi Canos and Sheyi Ojo were highlighted for their output…

“There are an awful lot of youngsters pushing for a spot in next season’s squad, and it will be very interesting to see which ones Klopp decides to give their chance next season.”
– Colorado Red on the forums.
Stewart, Smith, Brannagan, Ibe, Ojo, Flanagan, Canos. 7 academy players today at a tough ground. Did well

Made up to see Ings back on the pitch, all that hard work has paid off!

“Highlight was seeing Ings back after such a terrible injury.”
– Rushies ‘Stache on the forums.

Though many pointed out Liverpool’s miserable, eighth-placed finish…
Meanwhile, for those keeping track of the big picture, Saints won which means Liverpool are eighth. It's Champions League or nothing now.

“22 points from last 12 games giving 70 points in a 38 game season but we finished disappointing 8th and choked it in the last two games which would have put us 6th.”
– Makati Red on the forums.
8th. Terrible really. Considering we've not finished lower since our return to the top flight in 1962/63.

So all or nothing for #LFC.
Champions League group stage or no European footy.
Silverware or beaten finalists twice.#KloppIn or #KloppOut— Karl Matchett (@karlmatchett) May 15, 2016
Well done Klopp for guiding us to the lowest league position since the last sacrosanct manger we had ? #LFC
— Dan Shepherd (@TheCarteI) May 15, 2016
While attentions turned to Basel and the Europa League final!
8th place finish means LFC will only be in Europe next season should they win on Wednesday. No Europa League in 2016/17.

Liverpool's finishing league position: miserable.
The next week: huge. Possibly defining.

“It is really all or nothing now. Either a CL place or nothing at all!”
– charleslee89 on the forums.
At this stage last season we had lost 6-1 to Stoke, now we travel to Switzerland on Wednesday for the Europa League final. Thank you Klopp.
