Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri branded Liverpool as “unstoppable” as the Reds thrashed the Premier League champions 4-1 at Anfield.
Roberto Firmino struck a double along with goals from Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane as the Foxes were well beaten.
“Liverpool deserved to win,” Ranieri told BT Sport. “We were waiting for this type of football, very aggressive.
“We were okay after the first 10 minutes before they scored the goal, but after that we lose everything.
“We lost the first ball, the second ball. They were unstoppable.
“They deserved to win because they created so many more chances than us.”
Leicester were gifted their only goal, when makeshift central defender Lucas’ howler allowed Jamie Vardy to score.
Liverpool did not let their heads drop, however, and boss Jurgen Klopp was pleased that his side stuck to their style of play to keep Leicester at bay.
“It’s a good challenge for us, because I know—I don’t know who else knows—but I know we can be really strong,” he said.
“We were in the first half until we conceded the goal. When something doesn’t work like this we have to show we can stay in the race and believe in our style.
“We have to do it and that was everything that we did when we played calm football.
“It was good—the whole 98 minutes was a good performance in a wonderful atmosphere.”
