Liverpool kept a clean sheet and came away with an important point against rivals Manchester United despite a frustrating performance.
Georginio Wijnaldum was missing from the squad as expected, after picking up an injury whilst on international duty.
Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge came into the side as Adam Lallana also missed out on a starting place but remained on the bench, after struggling to recover from a hamstring injury picked up in the 2-1 victory over Swansea.
Liverpool never really got going and a poor first-half display was followed by a relatively frustrating second-half.
Divock Origi, Alberto Moreno and Lallana all came on as substitutes and the England midfielder certainly made a difference but neither side offered many opportunities to break the deadlock.
In the end, apart from a few chances which were saved effectively by David De Gea, there wasn’t too much for Liverpool fans to get excited about.
Here’s all the best reaction from Liverpool fans throughout the game on Twitter…
After much speculation, Sturridge’s inclusion in the starting XI was confirmed and there was optimism surrounding the game.
So as expected those Moreno rumours proved nonsense and the washbag theory holds up with Lallana fit enough for the bench. #LFC

In my opinion this is the best @LFC team on the pitch, exactly the side I would pick. Sturridge needs a big game.

Half-time arrived as a bit of a blessing after a poor first-half display for the Reds and fans were calling for several changes to be made.

Defo missing any kind of spark so far. Everything played in front of them making it easier to defend. Need to be braver 2nd half.

Fans got what they were hoping for when Lallana came on for Sturridge after 59 minutes.
Sturridge awful.
Right substitution

Fingers crossed Lallana's rubbed some of his Nivea cream on De Gea's gloves at HT

Our players haven't been great but 1st current Liverpool player to get his name sung is Lallana for coming onto the pitch at 60mins

Hopefully Lallana will make some difference #LFCvMUFC #LIVMUN

Jurgen Klopp made some bold substitutions with 5 minutes plus stoppage time left to play when he brought on Divock Origi and Alberto Moreno for James Milner and Roberto Firmino.

Moreno to score the winner for Liverpool

Wonder why Klopp hate Ings…. Ings will add more quality than Origi for now….

In the end, it was an unflattering 0-0 result and fans were left feeling frustrated as Liverpool never seemed to get going… And Mourinho was up to his usual boring antics.
Well, we just didn't get going did we? Our passing was poor today. Kept giving the ball away and made a mess of routine passes tonight.

Far from gutted with that result. Yes, it was frustrating, but could've been far worse. A first clean-sheet of the season important too.

At least we kept a clean sheet. Not much of a consolation mind you. We deserved to win that.

Telling that the term 'masterclass' when attributed to any other top coach means genius attacking display. A Mourinho masterclass is a draw.

Man Utd had 6 touches in Liverpool box! SIX!
