Barcelona “have no interest in Klopp,” says Guillem Balague

Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague says Barcelona have no interest in recruiting Jurgen Klopp as successor to Luis Enrique at the Nou Camp.

Some rather tenuous reports last week had suggested Klopp was wanted by the Catalan giants to replace Enrique, despite the German being just 18 months into his reign at Anfield and having signed a six-year contract last summer.

But Balague says Barcelona have no interest in Klopp, or Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

“Barcelona have no interest in Klopp or Wenger,” he told Sky Sports in a Q&A this week.

“As far as Klopp is concerned, it is not because he isn’t good – he quite clearly is – but rather because there is no way they could ever coax him away from Liverpool.”

Good news then!

In the same Q&A, Balague was also bizarrely asked about John Henry‘s visit to the Nou Camp on Sunday with a fan suggesting Liverpool were laying the groundwork on a deal for Ivan Rakitic!

Henry and wife Linda Pizzuti are in Barcelona on a holiday, and their visit as guests of Barca likely meant very little. Last season, senior officials from the Spanish side visited Anfield to see how the construction work on the new Main Stand was being done without disrupting the capacity.

Barcelona are currently embarking on ambitious plans to expand the Nou Camp and put a roof all the way around the famous stadium and they were impressed with how Liverpool achieved the new Main Stand with so little disruption.

Hysteria over then. Hopefully.
