Naby Keita produced a sensational season for RB Leipzig in 2016/17, prompting Liverpool’s interest in a possible £70 million deal this summer.
The Guinean is one of Jurgen Klopp‘s priorities in the transfer window, as he looks to bolster his midfield ranks for a four-pronged challenge next season.
Leipzig are believed to value Keita at £70 million, raising the question of whether he is worth almost doubling Liverpool’s current transfer record, the £36.9 million Mohamed Salah.
With BT Sport showcasing Keita’s goals, assists and skills for the Bundesliga side last term, it is clear why Klopp would be eager to.
Keita largely operates in a roaming midfield role for Leipzig, allowing him to probe forward and trouble defences with his quick feet, creativity and eye for goal.
He boasts a powerful long-range strike, which could be seen with his effort against Freiburg in November, as well as great pace and close control, which led to his incredible opener against Werder Bremen a month earlier.
His dribbling ability is exceptional, as evidenced against Augsburg, while he never gives up on a lost cause, which would surely suit Klopp’s high-energy attacking system.
It remains to be seen whether the Reds can get a deal across the line, but Keita is clearly worth pursuing.
