Arsenal accept Chelsea’s bid for Liverpool target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool could be set to miss out on one of their reported summer transfer targets, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the verge of joining Chelsea.

The 24-year-old has made it clear that he wants a move away from Arsenal, with just a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates.

News broke on Monday afternoon that a fee for the England international has now been agreed between Chelsea and Arsenal, with personal terms to be agreed.

The report claims he is “expected to complete the switch across London before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.”

However, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will now try and match Chelsea‘s bid, with the general consensus being that Oxlade-Chamberlain favours a move to Anfield – although, strong links with Monaco’s Thomas Lemar may suggest the club has moved on from the Arsenal man.

The Englishman started for the Gunners in their embarrassing 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, being given a torrid time by Sadio Mane from his right wing-back role.

He has grown disillusioned with life at the Emirates, and his decision to leave is another indication that all is not well in north London.
