Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs. Swansea: Simon Mignolet starts, Joel Matip returns

Jurgen Klopp has made four changes to his team for the match against the Premier League‘s bottom club, Swansea City.

The Reds are back at Anfield for their Boxing Day fixture, but with three successive draws on home soil Liverpool know they must return to winning ways this time out.

Any thoughts of it being a walkover against the Swans should be forgotten though, after they sacked manager Paul Clement recently to install Leon Britton as temporary boss.

The ‘new manager bounce’ is a phenomenon the Reds have had to face only recently against Everton, one of those three draws, but Liverpool are still unbeaten at home in the league this season.

Klopp has continued his policy of rotating across the busiest period of the year, and he’ll hope this XI should have enough firepower to secure the three points this time out.

In goal there had been murmurings of a change, but Simon Mignolet keeps his place.

Gini Wijnaldum replaces the injured captain Jordan Henderson, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip coming into the back line for Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren respectively.

The only attacking change sees Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in for Sadio Mane, which means Philippe Coutinho could push further forward.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Klavan, Robertson, Can, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coutinho, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Karius, Lovren, Milner, Gomez, Mane, Lallana, Solanke.

Swansea City: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Fer, Olsson, Carroll, Mesa, McBurnie, Routledge, Ayew

Subs: Nordfeldt, Van der Hoorn, Abraham, Dyer, Clucas, Rangel, Sanchez.
