Mane was one of the key performers on the night, scoring the all-important opening goal against Porto and going on to complete his treble.

While the 5-0 victory was a complete team performance, naturally Mane attracted attention and praise for bouncing back to top form.

A first-time finish—thanks to a goalkeeping error—an opportunistic follow-up and a rasping drive from range showcased the different aspects of Mane’s game and he was clearly ecstatic after the match.

“It was not an easy game, even though we scored five goals. The most important is to play as a team and we did it, and we played great football from the beginning until the end.”

“We created so many chances and scored five—well deserved today!”

Mane also reiterated how important his team-mates were, not just forward partners Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah but also the hard-working individuals behind them.

“I said all the time, these are great players but I think the team-mates make it easier.

“Without them we are nothing. They do a great job behind, they give [the ball] to us and lucky boys, we score all the time!”

James Milner also gave a few words on Mane, highlighting the work the wide forward puts in, as well as looking forward to the upcoming training camp and the rest of the season.
