Emre Can officially leaves Liverpool after release of retained list

Emre Can has officially left Liverpool after the club released their retained list on Friday afternoon.

Can, who signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £9.75 million four years ago, is expected to sign a contract with Juventus – a move that has dragged on in recent months.

In total, Can made 167 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals.

Joining Can as a high-profile departure is defender Jon Flanagan.

The 25-year-old full-back spent the last half of the season on loan to Bolton, with his last appearance for the club being in the League Cup defeat at Leicester City.

Flanagan played 51 games for his boyhood club, scoring once.

Youth players Toni Gomes, Paulo Alves, Mich’el Parker, Jordan Williams, Anthony Glennon, Jordan Hunter and Harvey Whyte will also depart the Reds, along with Yan Dhanda who has already signed for Swansea City.

Gomes is expected to sign a three-year deal with Primeira Liga side Arouca, while Williams is likely to attract interest from a host of Football League sides.

Rhian Brewster‘s scholarship has been extended, along with academy goalkeepers Dan Atherton and Ben Williams, while centre-backs Conor Masterson and George Johnston have been offered new deals.

It was previously reported that Nat Phillips would be offered a new contract, but an extension was already registered with the FA back in October.
