Alisson transfer latest: £66m move to be completed this week – deal all agreed

Alisson‘s move to Liverpool from AS Roma should be completed this week after the two clubs agreed a world-record fee for the goalkeeper.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side have agreed a deal worth £66.9 million (€75 million) for the 25-year-old Brazilian.

Reports emerged of the fee being accepted on Wednesday morning, and by Wednesday afternoon it appears all details have been agreed, with just the medical to be completed – reportedly set for Saturday.

Although, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Alisson will arrive in the UK on Wednesday evening, so a medical could take place sooner than Saturday.

The player has spoken to Klopp about the move and personal terms have been agreed.

The 6′ 4″ keeper will return to his holiday after completing the move and join up with his new teammates after their tour of the USA, when the Reds go to a training camp in France from 30 July.

The fee eclipses the €53 million paid by Juventus for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001 and the €40 million Man City paid Benfica for Ederson last summer.

Alisson will become Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Following the arrivals of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, credit must go to the Reds’ recruitment team and sporting director Michael Edwards.

Liverpool are expected to enter the transfer market once more this summer, with a versatile attacking midfielder remaining on Klopp’s wishlist.

Acquiring Nabil Fekir as that No.10 option would complete a rather perfect transfer window for the Reds.
