Trio of Liverpool departures on agenda as transfer attention turns to sales

Liverpool are expected to complete a flurry of outgoings in the coming days, following their world-record deal to sign Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson.

The Reds completed a £65 million move for Alisson on Thursday night, with the 25-year-old making the switch from Roma to become Jurgen Klopp‘s new first-choice goalkeeper.

He is Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri, and could be the last if the manager is to be believed.

Speaking after his side’s 2-0 win at Blackburn Rovers, Klopp insisted he was “pretty sure” there would be no further incomings, and though this is open for debate a series of exits are now more likely.

Klopp omitted Danny Ward, Pedro Chirivella and Ryan Kent from his squad at Ewood Park, with their futures on the agenda ahead of the tour of the United States.

The club have already agreed a fee of £12.5 million for Ward with Leicester City, with the Liverpool Echo adding that the deal will also include a 20 percent sell-on clause.

Ward’s exit can be expected imminently, with Alisson‘s arrival ensuring little room for the Welshman on Merseyside as Loris Karius prepares to remain part of the squad.

The absences of Kent and Chirivella were reminiscent of Harry Wilson‘s non-involvement at Bury, with the pair set to leave on loan this summer.

Kent is due to join Steven Gerrard‘s Rangers for the season, according to the Herald, following Ovie Ejaria in making the temporary switch to Ibrox.

Meanwhile, though no clear destination has been mooted for Chirivella, Goal‘s Neil Jones claims the Spaniard is attracting a host of Championship clubs, with Leeds United believed to be interested.

The futures of some of those to feature at Ewood Park are still unresolved, too, with Lazar Markovic also expected to leave this summer.

Markovic made his first appearance of pre-season in the second half, and opened the scoring in a bright showing that saw him outshine first-half forwards Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke.

Sheyi Ojo was impressive in bursts in the opening 45 minutes, but is still likely to depart on loan, with Liverpool have fielding enquiries from the Championship.

Ben Woodburn is due to travel with the squad to the US but could also leave for a temporary spell away from Anfield, and Sheffield United and Norwich City are both interested.

Origi and Danny Ings should be sold, Marko Grujic is likely to join Cardiff City on loan, Connor Randall is on St Mirren’s radar and Allan Rodrigues is currently on trial with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Both Allan and Taiwo Awoniyi are required to spend another campaign on loan as they are yet to qualify for a UK work permit.
