Liverpool’s loanees enjoyed a pleasingly busy week away from Anfield, with seven Reds featuring and two making impressive debuts.
The borrowed men have made a promising start to the new campaign and it continued with another productive seven days of action.
Most of the loanees enjoyed a good amount of game time, with only Allan Rodrigues, Shamal George (both unused) and Adam Bogdan (injured) denied match action.
The rest of the Reds all played and here is how they fared throughout the week.
Two loanees were in impressive form on their debuts…
Ings was named on the bench but was part of a double substitution made by Mark Hughes early in the second half, entering to partner Charlie Austin as the Saints looked for a winner.
And Ings brought a spark to proceedings at Turf Moor in his cameo, sharp in his linkup play and carrying a much-needed goal threat.
Ings will hope his promising cameo earns him a start against Everton next week, and we can all agree that there would be no better game for him to open his account.
The other debutant to catch the eye was Herbie Kane.
The academy midfielder enjoyed a special moment as he made his professional debut in League One Doncaster’s 3-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
Even better was that Kane was in excellent form on his first-ever senior start, turning in a performance beyond his relatively little experience to dominate the midfield battle.
Kane’s quality on the ball caught the eye in particular and his display earned rave reviews from Donny fans who assessed his running of the game as key to victory:

The 19-year-old will remain with Rovers until January, and if he continues this excellent form he could earn a loan to a Championship club in the new year.
Five other Reds enjoyed promising amounts of game time…
Harry Wilson made a second successive start for Derby but it was another quiet outing for the Wales international who continues to find his feet with his new club.
Wilson struggled to stamp his authority on proceedings as his side were thrashed 4-1 by Leeds, and he was withdrawn on the hour mark by boss Frank Lampard as a result.
Meanwhile Ben Woodburn’s wait for a first start at Sheffield United goes on, with the versatile youngster restricted to two sub appearances across the week.
Woodburn played the second half of a 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough on Tuesday—entering at 3-0 down—before playing the last 20 minutes and helping his side earn a first win of the season with a 2-1 victory at QPR.
The duo were first in solid form as the Gers claimed an important 3-1 first-leg win to take control of their Europa League third qualifying round tie against Maribor.
Kent and Ejaria kept their shirts for Sunday’s clash with St Mirren and both enjoyed another productive outing as Steven Gerrard’s side secured back-to-back wins with a 2-0 victory.
There was only one European loanee in action this week, namely Taiwo Awoniyi, who also made consecutive starts at Gent.
First the Nigerian helped his side secure a crucial 1-0 away win over Polish outfit Jaggiellonia in the Europa League, playing 69 minutes before being subbed at 0-0.
Awoniyi then led the line on Gent’s return to league action on Sunday night, featuring for 71 minutes of his side’s 4-1 win over Waasland-Beveren.
The 20-year-old again failed to find the net, but he came the closest yet to breaking the duck as he saw one effort come back off the post.
No doubt that once the first goal arrives more will follow.
