Sheyi Ojo & Allan Rodrigues the ones to watch from Liverpool’s midweek loanees

Liverpool are back in action on Wednesday night when they take on Chelsea, but eight loanees could also feature in midweek, including the promising Sheyi Ojo.

The Reds’ relentless run goes on as they entertain their Premier League rivals in the third round of the League Cup at Anfield.

Having dispatched of Paris Saint-Germain and Southampton over the past week, Jurgen Klopp‘s side can be confident of securing an eighth win of the season and maintaining their 100 percent record.

Away from Anfield, Ojo will be looking to build on his full debut for Stade de Reims when they take on PSG on the same night.

He played 59 minutes in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Dijon, before being replaced by Hyun-jun Suk, and took to Instagram to express his determination ahead of comfortably his biggest senior game so far.

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes hard work, self belief and courage,” Ojo mused.

Another loanee to make his belated debut at the weekend was Allan Rodrigues, who was a second-half substitute in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig.

After a delay due to personal reasons, the Brazilian can hope to push on when Frankfurt take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Wednesday.

Though he hasn’t been tipped the start, manager Adi Hutter could spring a surprise and put his faith in the 21-year-old, who already has experience in the German top flight with Hertha Berlin.

Elsewhere, also continuing his pursuit of a work permit is Taiwo Awoniyi, who is currently struggling for form on loan at KAA Gent.

After scoring his first goal for the Belgian side on his fifth appearance, in the third round of the Europa League qualifiers, he is now enduring a drought that has seen him yet to add to his tally.

Since his strike against Jagiellonia, Awoniyi has played five of a seven possible games, but only started three, with one of those seeing him substituted at half-time.

With no further goals or assists to his name, and averaging just 45.4 minutes on the field per outing, the Nigerian can use Wednesday’s Belgian Cup clash at Virton to return to form.

Before the Reds’ League Cup clash, Derby County travel to Old Trafford to take on Man United in the same competition on Tuesday night.

Harry Wilson will be hoping to start, after his goal against Brentford at the weekend, as one of five other Liverpool loanees in action over the next two days.
