Liverpool confirm 21-man squad to travel for PSG tie in Champions League

Jurgen Klopp has named a 21-man squad for Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, with both Joe Gomez and Sadio Mane available.

The manager oversaw training at Melwood on Tuesday afternoon with the presence of both Gomez (knock) and Mane (illness) allaying fears they would miss out.

Twenty outfield players took part in the session in front of the cameras, before the majority of them boarded the plane to Paris.

Isaac Christie-Davies and Pedro Chirivella didn’t travel, however, after making up the numbers with the Liverpool U23s not in action again until Sunday at home to Bournemouth.

But the club confirmed later in the day that the rest of the training squad are flying out to France, joined by goalkeepers Alisson, Simon Mignolet and Caoimhin Kelleher.

Kamil Grabara and Divock Origi miss out due to illness, though there is no explanation for the absence of Nathaniel Clyne or Dominic Solanke.

Adam Lallana remains sidelined, as do both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster, but the rest of Klopp’s squad are in excellent shape.

The inclusion of Rafa Camacho will deprive U19s manager Barry Lewtas of one of his key players for Wednesday afternoon’s UEFA Youth League clash with the PSG youth side.

But he could be required for the first team if Klopp is planning to field a 4-2-3-1, having done so in each of the past four games.

The manager is likely to name the strongest side possible at the Parc des Princes, with Gomez expected to replace Dejan Lovren and both Fabinho and Naby Keita options in midfield.
