The year has been a fruitful one for the Reds, and after putting the disappointment of defeat in the Champions League final behind them they are top of the league and six points clear of Tottenham in second.
This evening brings their final clash of 2018, against Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal, and with a trip to fellow title rivals Man City to come on Thursday, victory at Anfield is essential.
Unai Emery’s side held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates back in November, in a game that saw the Gunners dominate possession and manage a similar number of shots on goal, but the visitors hit the woodwork twice.
Speaking on Friday, Jurgen Klopp revealed his analysis team, led by Peter Krawietz, had used this game to formulate part of their gameplan, so the hope will be that the Reds are able to come out on top this time out.
It is a fixture that pits the league’s two top scorers, Mohamed Salah (12 goals) and Klopp’s former charge Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (13) against one another.
But with Arsenal (25) shipping considerably more goals than Liverpool (seven) in the league, could it be decided by their defences, rather than the attack?
