Liverpool have confirmed their full 21-man Legends squad for the charity clash with AC Milan on March 23, including seven players from the Istanbul triumph.
The Legends matches have been a roaring success in recent times, often filling the void left by painful international breaks.
Liverpool have faced Real Madrid and Bayern Munich at Anfield in the last two years and now it is Milan’s turn to head to Merseyside.
A star-studded list of ex-Reds will be showcasing their talents next month, in a repeat of the unforgettable 2005 Champions League final.
Among the Istanbul favourites taking part are penalty hero Jerzy Dudek, the long-serving Jamie Carragher and former skipper Sami Hyypia.
Djimi Traore, Luis Garcia, Vladimir Smicer and Djibril Cisse make up the list.
Also in attendance are usual stalwarts Alan Kennedy, Jason McAteer, Ian Rush and John Aldridge, while the popular Daniel Agger will return to the Anfield turf, too.
Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen will hope to team up better than they ever managed during their playing days together, while Dirk Kuyt’s involvement is sure to please many.
Glen Johnson will also make his first appearance for the Reds since leaving the club in 2015; the 34-year-old right-back announced his retirement in January.
Milan will have some household names on show too, not least Paolo Maldini, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka: three of the leading players of their generation.
Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini, Dida, Christian Abbiati, Alessandro Costacurta, Massimo Oddo and Serginho are also confirmed for the clash.
It promises to be a great spectacle, with proceeds to be shared between the LFC Foundation and Milan’s charity.
