Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs. Bayern Munich: Henderson starts, Fabinho sub

Jurgen Klopp has made two changes to the Liverpool lineup for the crunch Champions League last 16 second leg at Bayern Munich tonight.

The Reds made it all the way to the final last year, but they’ll need their best away performance of the season in Europe if they’re to see if Bundesliga champions Bayern.

Liverpool struggled with three defeats in the group stages on the road—and a 0-0 at Anfield in the first leg means the Reds must either win or take a score draw tonight to progress.

Only another goalless 90 minutes will see the tie go to extra time and, if needed, penalties.

With that in mind, Klopp has named the side he feels can progress at the Allianz Arena.

Alisson of course retains his place in goal, while the defensive line is also unchanged: Joel Matip partners Virgil van Dijk in the centre, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson at full-back.

In midfield, Klopp has opted to recall both his skipper and vice-captain, with Jordan Henderson holding in the centre behind James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum.

The usual three suspects are in attack and each of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will need a good game to trouble Bayern’s defence.

Fabinho drops to the bench, as does Adam Lallana, while Dejan Lovren provides the defensive option.

There’s no Naby Keita this evening as expected, so the offensive-minded changes at Klopp’s disposal are comprised of Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Bayern are without the suspended Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Muller, so Franck Ribery starts on the wing and Rafinha is drafted in at right-back.

David Alaba has recovered from injury to play and Robert Lewandowski leads the attack.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum; Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Fabinho, Lovren, Sturridge, Lallana, Shaqiri, Origi.

Bayern Munich: Neuer; Rafinha, Hummels, Sule, Alaba; Martínez, Thiago; Gnabry, James, Ribery; Lewandowski.

Subs: Ulreich, Boateng, Goretzka, Davies, Jeong, Coman, Sanches.
