Andrea Dossena was signed for around £7 million in July 2008 as a replacement for the outgoing John Arne Riise. The Italian is a left back known for his agressive attacking style. He will wear the number 2 shirt last worn by Alvaro Arbeloa.
Before signing for Liverpool he had previously played for Hellas Verona, Treviso and Udinese. To date, he has a single cap for the Italian national side, featuring in a friendly against South Africa. He was, however, overlooked for Italian squad for Euro 2008.
