Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has rejected claims that he is set to sign for Liverpool this summer amid furious talk between the two clubs over the England international’s future.
Defoe has struggled to lay down a first team place at Spurs this season with the great form of Robbie Keane. Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has claimed that the striker is ‘œdesperate’ to leave White Heart Lane.
Defoe insists he is content and the club. He said, ‘œI’m happy here, there’s a great bunch of lads, the fans have been tremendous all year. I think we’ve achieved something special this season so I can’t see why I would think about going somewhere else.
‘œWhat we’ve been talking about is positive – the Champions League.’
