Hamann signs for City

Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has ended weeks of confusion over his departure this summer from Anfield by signing for Stuart Pearce’s Manchester City, rejecting a move to Bolton Wanderers.

It is thought that the former German international had initially signed a contract with Bolton, but had a late change of heart and with Bolton’s permission tore up his contract with the Reebok Stadium side in favour of Eastlands.

Although Liverpool released a statement on Tuesday confirming Hamann’s transfer to Bolton, Bolton were quick to set the record straight.

“Bolton wish to clarify that although Didi Hamann signed a contract with the club, he has since had a change of heart and will sign for another football club in the next 24 hours.”

Everyone at This Is Anfield would like to thank Didi for his services to the club and wish him the very best of luck in the future.
