Mackems in for Dudek?

Reports on Monday morning are linking Liverpool’s Polish goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek with a move to Championship side Sunderland.

Dudek, the hero of Liverpool’s 2005 European Cup triumph in Istanbul over Italian giants AC Milan, has not managed to win his place back as first choice goalkeeper at Anfield since the signing of Spanish keeper Pepe Reina last summer.

It is thought that Dudek’s opportunities at Liverpool will continue to be limited with Scott Carson now Rafael Benitez’s second choice keeper.

Sunderland boss Nial Quinn signed Darren Ward last week to play understudy to 19 year old keeper Ben Alnwick at the Stadium of Light.

But reports to suggest that Quinn may attempt to sign Dudek on loan with the view to a permanent deal in the future.
