Liverpool’s new attacking talent were on show in the live pre-season friendly with German outfit Werder Bremen in Switzerland on Tuesday night. Ukranian international and new signing Andriy Voronin caught the eye as he scored twice in the 3-2 win for Liverpool.
John Arne Riise scored the other goal of the night from a free-kick from 30 yards. Rafa Benitez made 8 changes at half time, introducing new signing Yossi Benayoun – and later introducing fellow new signings Ryan Babel and Fernando Torres.
Torres was very lively and almost got on the scoresheet late on, twice going close and was unlucky not to open his account. Jermaine Pennant and Momo Sissoko also put in good performances as the competition for places begins to hot up ahead of the new season.
Scott Carson played the full match in goal and there were also appearances for youngsters Nabil El Zhar and Stephen Darby
