Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva was thrilled at netting his first goal for Liverpool at the weekend, the Reds’ first equaliser during the 5-2 victory over Havant and Waterlooville.
Lucas, an £8million signing last summer from Gremio made his seventh appearance for Liverpool in Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Anfield, and sealed with a stunning curling strike from outside the box which had all the skillfull qualities you’d expect from a Brazilian international.
After the game, Lucas said, “I’m really happy because I have been trying to get my first goal.
“It’s funny because on Friday I was having shots in training and I scored some goals and some of the players were telling me I would score the next day, and I did.
“It was a beautiful moment for me and I would like to dedicate the goal to my family because they are always right behind me.
“It was a special moment for me because I became the first Brazilian to score for Liverpool so I’m really, really happy.”
