Liverpool’s 1981 European Cup Final win over Real Madrid is on ESPN classic tonight (11pm UK, channel 442 on Sky). Full back Alan Kennedy’s goal with 10 minutes left put Liverpool as Champions of Europe for the third time as captain Phil Thompson lifted the trophy in Paris.
At the same time on Tuesday night, the fourth of Liverpool’s five European Cup successes is on EPSN Classic again. That was the night Bruce Grobbelaar’s spaghetti legs during the penalty shoot out saw off Italians AS Roma after the match had finished 1-1 in Rome’s Olympic Stadium. Phil Neale was the Reds’ scorer early on as Joe Fagan’s team completed a treble of the European Cup, League title and League Cup. Alan Kennedy was again the hero, scoring the winning penalty in the shoot out.
