Next Up: Fulham (a)

Liverpool are close to having secured fourth place in the Premier League and therefore Champions League football for next season, Fulham are fighting to remain in the top flight of English football.

Both teams enjoyed wins last weekend, Fulham needed theirs, a 2-0 win at Reading, as they sit 19th in the table and four points from safety with just four games remaining.

Last season’s fixture saw similar circumstances with Rafa Benitez opting to rest players and Fulham enjoyed a crucial victory in their final home game of the season. That was the Reds’ 9th away defeat of the season.

The likes of Gabriel Paletta, Emiliano Insua and Nabil El Zhar featured in that 1-0 defeat last season and Benitez is likely to play a somewhat reserve team again this season with the Champions League semi final first leg against Chelsea just three days later. That means a team similar to which started at the Emirates in the League fixture, with Crouch, Pennant, Lucas, Riise, Finnan and Voronin all likely to feature. Youngsters like Damien Plessis may also get a chance to shine again.

Kick off is 3pm.
