Next Up: Everton (H)

It’s the first of two Merseyside Derbys at Anfield within a week, this Monday night fixture being the Premier League, and arguably more important, clash.

The two sides will meet again the following weekend after an all Merseyside FA Cup fourth round draw was made for the sides.

Liverpool go into this fixture knowing that both Chelsea and Manchester United are hot on their heels at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds will be hoping to be more clinical in front of goal after a goalless affair at Stoke City last Saturday.

Fernando Torres is expected to return to the starting line-up after recovering from injury and coming on as a substitute against Preston and Stoke recently. Fellow striker Robbie Keane must be wondering when his next chance is going to come.
