Gerrard: ‘˜It doesn’t get bigger than this’

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has stepped up the excitement and anticipation for tonight’s FA Cup fourth round replay against local rivals Everton.

After being held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield two weeks ago, the Reds face the Toffees in their own back yard in what is the third Merseyside Derby meeting between the teams in as many weeks.

And Gerrard explained how important tonight’s clash at Goodison Park is:

“Games don’t come much bigger than this – playing against your local rivals in the FA Cup. We know Everton will be just as hard to beat as they were when we played at Anfield.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to score a couple of goals against Everton in the last two derbies, but it doesn’t matter who scores as long as we go through.

“The important thing now is for us to take the momentum and the confidence into the next game – obviously starting with the game against Everton at Goodison where we want to try and get into the last 16 of the cup.

“That’s all that matters in the cup. It’s not about who does or doesn’t score – it’s all about winning the game.”

Everton vs Liverpool gets underway at 8.10pm tonight and is live on ITV1. The winner of the tie wins a place in the FA Cup fifth round, to face the winner of Aston Villa vs Doncaster, which is also tonight.
