Duo return to training

Liverpool could be set to welcome back defenders Daniel Agger and Alvaro Arbeloa to action soon after they both began training again following spells on the sidelines through injury.

Agger picked up a back injury whilst on international duty for Denmark at the start of February, whilst Arbeloa has been out of action since picking up a hamstring problem in the first leg of Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid.

But both players are now training again, much to the delight of Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

“Daniel [Agger] is available for the weekend but it depends on the doctor and whether he thinks it’s a risk or not.

“Having Agger available again will be a big boost. When we play at home especially he is a player who can play good passes and is a threat in front of goal.

“We have missed him but hopefully he will now be available for the rest of the season.”

On Arbeloa’s situation, he added, “Arbeloa trained today. It was a light training session but I think he’ll be okay for Villa.”
