Liverpool’s American co-owner George Gillett has rubbished reports suggesting he has decided to sell his 50% stake in the club.
Recent reports have said that Gillett wants out of the partnership with fellow American Tom Hicks and would be looking to sell as quickly as possible.
But Gillett says he has made no decision on selling his half of the club, although he is current assessing all his worldwide sporting assets.
He said, “We have appointed advisers in different countries to assess our assets,” Gillett said Tuesday. “We have engaged professionals who are doing some estate planning; it has nothing to do with any decisions to sell any assets.
“We may do some recapitalization, but any links between what we are doing and the situation at Liverpool is incorrect. We have made no decision to sell.”
