Injury hit Newcastle struggling

Liverpool’s opponents in the Premier League this Sunday, Newcastle Utd, face some dire selection problems for their visit to Anfield.

With the Magpies down in 18th place in the league, three points inside the relegation zone, they face the Reds ‘“ who beat them 5-1 in their own back yard earlier this season.

And new caretaker boss Alan Shearer could face a selection crisis with a number of his players sidelined through injury.

The club’s only left-back, Jose Enrique, is definitely ruled out of Sunday’s 1.30pm kick-off and could face the remaining games of the season out.

Srikers Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins are also struggling with achilles and groin injuries respectively, whilst right-winger Jonas Gutierrez looks set to miss out too.

The visitors could however welcome back midfielder Joey Barton to the team, who has recovered from injury and enjoyed a full week’s training.

Liverpool are boosted by the return of captain Steven Gerrard who has been out injured since April 8th.
