The season isn’t over yet but that doesn’t stop the summer rumour mill starting early. The early leader in the race to be the most linked player to Anfield is Valencia’s David Silva.
Heavily linked last summer too, the 23 year old Spaniard is allegedly the subject of a £15m ‘take it or leave it’ offer from Liverpool.
The Telegraph report manager Rafa Benitez met with the player’s representatives in January when a £15m deal was provisionally agreed. But with Valencia in huge debt -£350m to be precise – their president made Liverpool’s interest public in an attempt to attract interest from other clubs and therefore raise the price.
Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso‘s agent has rejected reports linking him with a departure from Anfield this summer. “Xabi has always said he is happy at Liverpool and focused on them,” he said. [More]
TIA Comment: I wrote earlier this season when we were linked with Silva that he would be the perfect addition this summer, complimenting Torres, Gerrard and Kuyt perfectly and adding some flair and creativity to the attack.
